What happens at the free consultation visit?
You and your dog(s) will come to Canine Caretakers for a free consultation visit that will take approximately 30 minutes. This gives you a chance to meet us and for us to meet you and your dog(s). If you decide after meeting us that you would like us to care for your dog(s), you will be given the necessary paperwork which needs to be completed and returned prior to your dogs' first stay with us. This visit is also a time for your dog to sniff around and familiarize itself with our place. This will help alleviate stress when you drop your dog off for care because they will recognize the sights, sounds and smells. Most dogs have so much fun at this visit they can't wait to get out of the car when you bring them back. Consultation visits usually take place the week before service is to begin.

How far in advance do I need to book?
Space is limited for this service to ensure all dogs receive the love and attention they deserve. Weekends and Holidays generally book up months in advance so it's best to call ahead. Two weeks notice for other times of the year is usually sufficient. We do understand that emergencies do arise, so please give us a call and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancellations may be made up to 3 days in advance of the scheduled visit. After that period, a cancellation fee of 25% of the total bill will be charged. Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel a visit.

What do I need to pack for my dogs stay at Canine Caretakers?
Along with the required paperwork and proof of vaccines please bring a generous supply of your dogs regular food, to ensure digestive consistency, as well as any medications your dog is on. We provide all toys, balls, treats and bedding.

What happens if the pet food runs out while I am away?
We will not let your dog go without food. However, it is recommended that you bring a little extra food. If you miscalculate and run out of food, the cost of the food we purchased will be added to your bill.

What happens if my pet gets sick or injured at Canine Caretakers?
All clients are required to complete a veterinary release form. We will not knowingly accept very sick pets. We firmly believe that sick pets should be under the care of a veterinarian. If your pet needs medical attention while at Canine Caretakers, we will take your pet to your veterinarian immediately. If your veterinarian is not available, we will transport your pet to the nearest veterinarian or Animal Emergency Clinic. We will make every effort to contact pet owners and receive instructions before we take an animal in for medical care. However, in emergency situations or when the owner cannot be reached, we will not hesitate to take a pet to the veterinarian. Canine Caretakers is not responsible for costs incurred from veterinary visits.

What are my payment options?
Payment is due upon pick-up of your dogs. We currently accept cash and checks. Checks are made payable to Canine Caretakers.
